Cookie Policy

This policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies NASFAM uses on this website, why we use them, and how you can control them.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the website owners about how the site is being used.

Alongside cookies, we may also use similar technologies such as pixel tags, web beacons, and local storage objects. These function similarly to cookies and are included within the scope of this policy.

Cookies may be "session cookies" (which expire when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them). Cookies can also be classified as "first-party" (set by NASFAM directly) or "third-party" (set by our technology partners).

02

Why We Use Cookies

NASFAM uses cookies for a number of important reasons:

  • To ensure the website functions correctly and securely
  • To remember your preferences and settings between visits
  • To understand how visitors navigate and use our website so we can improve it
  • To measure the effectiveness of our communications and digital content
  • To prevent fraudulent activity and protect both our users and our systems
  • To provide relevant content and customise your experience where you have consented

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to track your activity on other websites outside of nasfam.org.

03

Types of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be disabled in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take such as submitting a form, setting your privacy preferences, or logging into a secure area. Without these cookies, services you have asked for cannot be provided.

Performance and Analytics Cookies

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and to understand how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous.

We use these cookies only with your consent. If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited our site and will not be able to monitor its performance.

Functional Cookies

These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering your language preference or the region you are viewing the site from. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages.

Targeting and Preference Cookies

These cookies record your visit to our website, the pages you have visited, and the links you have followed. We use this information to make our website and the content we display more relevant to your interests. These cookies are only placed with your explicit consent.

04

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our website are placed by third-party services that appear on our pages. We use the following third-party tools that may place cookies on your device:

ServicePurposeProvider's Privacy Policy
Google Analytics 4Website analytics and usage reportingpolicies.google.com/privacy
Google FontsDelivery of web typography assetspolicies.google.com/privacy
YouTube EmbedsEmbedded video content (used on event and programme pages)policies.google.com/privacy

NASFAM does not control the cookies set by these third parties. We encourage you to review each provider's privacy policy for details on how they process your data. Where possible, we configure these services to minimise data collection (for example, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode).

05

Cookie Retention Periods

Session cookies are temporary and are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or until you delete them through your browser settings.

As a general rule:

  • Strictly necessary session cookies: deleted when you close your browser
  • Consent preference cookies: 12 months from the date of consent
  • Analytics cookies: up to 24 months as required by the analytics provider
  • Functional preference cookies: 6 to 12 months depending on the feature

You can clear all cookies from your browser at any time. Note that doing so may reset your preferences and require you to re-enter information on subsequent visits.

06

Managing Your Preferences

Cookie Consent Banner

On your first visit to the NASFAM website, you will see a cookie consent banner. You can choose to accept all cookies, accept only strictly necessary cookies, or customise your preferences by category. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the footer.

Browser Controls

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. You can typically:

  • View all cookies stored on your device and delete them individually or as a group
  • Block all cookies from being set
  • Block third-party cookies specifically
  • Allow cookies only from sites you trust
  • Set your browser to notify you when a site attempts to set a cookie

For guidance on managing cookies in your specific browser, visit the help section of your browser or visit allaboutcookies.org.

Opt-Out of Analytics

To opt out of Google Analytics tracking specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On. This add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing information about your visit with Google Analytics.

Do Not Track

Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" feature that signals to websites that you do not want your online activity tracked. The NASFAM website does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals; however, you can manage your preferences through the mechanisms described above.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy periodically to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please revisit this page regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by displaying a notice on the website.
